This is a sample Loryma to Caria West Turkish Coast itinerary, it may not be possible to visit all the anchorages listed in one week charter.
We suggest only the highlights on this particular coastal stretch and leave the rest to the leader of the group and the skipper to decide on a day by day basis. The order of the days of the itinerary may change, anchorage days may vary but most of the mentioned stops will be visited.
Day 1 Gocek – Yacht
Board the yacht and upon completion of formalities set sail to the Gulf of Gocek. One of the Mediterranean’s best sailing locations, the Gulf of Gocek’s land and seascapes are irresistible. Dotted with islands and indented by coves, it has many anchorages with stunning scenery.
Day 2 Ekincik & Caunos Ruins or Cape Kadirga
Sail to Ekincik, anchor for lunch. Transfer to a small fishing boat and sail to the delta of Dalaman River, to Iztuzu, Caretta-Caretta beach. Visit Caunos ruins and Dalyan. Mud bath is optional. Return to the boat in the afternoon. Guests who wish to, can choose to dine at an exclusive restaurant in Ekincik. Excursion€ 150 for complete river boat upto 14 pax. Day 3 Cape Kadirga – Loryma Peninsula
Leaving the Ekincik towards West heading around the Loryma Peninsula you have a choice of two moorings. Both are natural harbours – Bozukkale with the remains of fortifications on the cliffs and Serce. A dirt track has recently been made from a mountain village down to the family who run a restaurant in this bay. Good for a walk up the valley if you want to stretch your legs. Serce and Bozukkale are also both good for snorkelling for octopus.
Day 5 Hisarönü Gulf & Datça
Hisarönü gulf at the southeastern end of the Dorian Promontory is wild and beautiful. Pine clad hills hugging the coastline like the shores of Gokova. There are some lovely bays to stop overnight – Bencik, the idyllic Hisarönü Islands, one with the remains of a Byzantine church, Orhaniye (surrounded by high mountains) and tucked away in a concealed natural harbour. On further round this gulf is the remote village of Selimiye, until recent years brought a road, only accessible by boat or donkey. A charming village with a few small restaurants and one or two bars. Bozburun is a small village, once home to sponge diving and now catering to yachts and boats. Along the coast to Datca there are a couple of moorings. Datca itself is a modern, small town and harbour. Good for topping up supplies, a bit of shopping and lovely bars in the evening if you want some nightlife.
Day 6 Knidos – Gökova Gulf
Knidos is located at the isolated end of the Dorian Promontory – a dramatic setting. From the excavated ruins of this ancient city it is possible to visualize the overall city plan and it is well worth spending time to climb up to the top layer of the several temples, to the site where the statue of Aphrodite stood. The views are marvellous in all directions. The city walls, the small theatre by the harbour, the agora, the large theatre overlooking the present natural harbour and the acropolis are easily identified. There are some fine examples of mosaic flooring, a sun dial and much more if you really explore the site.
Day 8 Sail to Bodrum
Enter Bodrum marina and disembark. If there is enough time before transfer to airport, it recommended to visit St.John’s Knights castle, the underwater museum in the castle and the Mauseloum, ancient world’s seven wonder which remains lie in Bodrum town.
